My name is Sarah Russell; I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) I graduated with my
Ed.S and M.Ed in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Clemson University.
I have been in the mental health field for over 15 years.
I specialize in working with women who have experienced trauma, depression/anxiety, and women in military and law enforcement populations.
My Treatment Focus
I am a trained EMDR therapist and utilize EMDR in much of my practice; while also utilizing narrative therapy, CBT, processing,
art expression, etc. as well.
I like to think out of the box and get out of the office. I've met with clients at various places in the community to walk, hike, swing, sit outside - just reconnect with nature. Sometimes we need to get away from the 4 walls when we feel stuck or need to be re-centered.
My Version of Therapy
I am NOT the stereotypical therapist you see on movies and television - that just wouldn't be authentically me.
No lying on couches here!
I view therapy as a partnership between therapist and client; I don't believe it is my job to "fix" anyone, instead I help clients to grow and heal once we explore, name, and then face these traumatic experiences -
allowing the emotions and memories to wash over the individual in order to move forward.

I enjoy helping my clients wade through their history of what we call "Big T's, Small T's, and everything in between" and assist in "moving through them" The goal of counseling isn't to "just get over it" because I don't believe it works like that - the goal is to accept that it happened, heal the emotional wounds of the past, and begin to move forward with your life.
