I knew I was going to do something in the mental health field when I was in high school - I was the person individuals came to with their woes, frustrations, and celebrations and with a personal family history of mental health issues and trauma, it was a no-brainer for me.
I enjoy being a partner in processing; processing thoughts, feelings, actions. I enjoy being a cheerleader for individuals and helping people to believe in themselves, find their potential, let go of the fear consuming them from past experiences.
I went to undergrad at Univ. of Tennessee Knoxville and majored in Psychology and Anthropology. I love my Vols! I traded one orange for another and received my Masters degree and Education Specialist degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Clemson University. Go Tigers!
I have been in the mental health field for over 15 years, ranging in various settings: psychiatric hospitals, in-home settings, agencies, & non-profit centers. I have worked with all kinds of mental health disorders and backgrounds, but began to specialize in trauma, PTSD, depression/anxiety, women's issues, and working with people who have a military and/or law enforcement background. I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), and Mindfulness.
I‘d like to think I am approachable, I’m down to earth, appreciate sarcasm, and funny (it's a gift). I cuss, like to (mostly) dress comfortable, and have a sometimes twisted sense of humor. I love to laugh and like to make therapy FUN (enter shocked emoji face) when it needs to be and INFORMATIVE. I dislike leaving an appointment and having no clue what was told to me, so I’d never want a client to leave with their head scratching. I am an unapologetic feminist & LOVE being a cheerleader for women, because We. Are. Amazing.
I’m a single mom with two children and a dog named Toby. We love spending time outside - hiking, swimming, and exploring new places.
When I'm not working, you can find me chasing my children around to their events/sports, sipping coffee or Dr. Pepper Zero and binging shows on Netflix, reading a book in bed, scrolling through and sending funny memes, or listening to true crime podcasts.
